The incidence of bed bugs has steadily increased in recent years. Facilities from private homes and schools to hotels and theaters have reported infestations. Bed bugs can spread rapidly, so do not hesitate to contact a professional bug exterminator at the first sign of trouble. At United Exterminating of Tennessee, we provide a wide range of pest control services, including bed bug removal in Nashville, TN.

Because bed bugs are difficult to eradicate, prevention is important. Bed bugs are found in hotels, movie theaters, schools and daycare centers, thrift shops and public transportation. From any of these locations, the pests can easily be carried home. It is important to take the time to inspect hotel rooms and take precautions, such as washing clothing when you get home and watching for signs of a bed bug problem.

There are some signs that your home may be infested with bedbugs. You can look for bugs and signs that bed bugs are present. The bugs are small, round and dark brown. Other evidence that bed bugs may be present includes eggs and brown spots in the seams of mattresses, box springs, and curtains. Additionally, if you have clusters of itchy red bites, bed bugs could be the culprit. If you suspect you have bedbugs, call an experienced bug exterminator to get control of the problem.

Bed bug removal is a specialized area of pest control and requires specific knowledge and experience to eradicate these pests. Halloween is right around the corner. Is it Vampires or Bedbugs?

1103111520_0 The photo above is an example of a person that had a ‘severe’ bedbug infestation. Severe scarring and allergies to bites.     An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure-Benjamin Franklin   Truer words have never been spoken, especially if you have had the misfortune of dealing with bedbugs. They have been found in thrift stores, movie theaters, laundry mats, daycares, schools, cars and even on subways. They can hitch hike a ride anywhere. Luckily for us, there are things that we can do to prevent being infested with these little bloodsuckers.

If traveling, you should:

- Inspect your hotel room upon arrival.

- Look for live bugs, or evidence of bedbugs IE: Dried brown spots, molted skin, eggs, etc… – Inspect the mattress tufts, box springs and headboards. (Depending on the severity of infestation, they can also hide in curtain seams and rods themselves.) – Any evidence you find, you should immediately report it to the front desk, request another room entirely or ask for a refund. Most reputable hotels will honor this request. Returning home: – Immediately launder all clothing in hot soapy water and run through a hot dryer on a full cycle. – Inspect yourself for bites. Mosquito bites are usually randomly spread over the body, while bedbug bites are usually in cluster of at least 3 or more. If you are allergic, they may turn to large, red, painful and itchy welts. – Purchase quality mattress and box spring encasements. Cheaper ones tear easily and defeat the purpose.
